GAINESVILLE -- Monday’s early morning, rain-delayed contest between the No. 67 BYU women’s tennis team and No. 22 SMU concluded the ITA Indoor Qualifying Tournament. The Mustangs came out on the winning end of the 4-1 consolation match.
SMU took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. No. 18 McCall Jones and Megan Price were tied with their opponents at seven-all on court one when the match was called.
The Mustangs captured the first singles match in straight sets at the No. 5 spot. Romina Nedakovic was the only Cougar able to notch a win—a 7-5, 6-1 victory on court six. SMU won the two more matches necessary to secure the victory. With the loss, BYU fell to 1-3 on the season.
Play will continue Thursday for the Cougars when they take on No. 75 Wichita State at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts.

GAINESVILLE -- Inclement weather forced the women’s tennis match between No. 67 BYU and No. 22 SMU scheduled for Saturday to be postponed until Monday.
The teams were set to meet in the consolation round of the ITA Indoor Qualifying Tournament hosted by the University of Florida. Both squads lost first round matches with BYU dropping a 4-0 decision to the No. 8 Gators and SMU falling 4-2 to No. 31 Florida International University.
SMU has one singles players ranked in the top 50, Marta Lesniak who comes in at No. 47. The Mustangs also have a ranked doubles pair, No. 15 Lesniak and Pavi Francis. The side is 4-1 on the season after the loss to FIU.
Monday’s match begins at 8 a.m. at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex.
