Tournament History

NCAA Tournament

The Cougars joined many seasoned teams in NCAA competition in 1990 and have since become a national competitor. They've earned themselves three national titles in 1999, 2001 and 2004, and have made appearances in the Final Four on four different occasions since 1990. The National Collegiate Mens Volleyball Championship provides for a single-elimination tournament. Prior to 2014, it comprised of four teams in a Final Four-type setting. In 2014 the tournament changed to a six-team bracket, with the No. 1 and 2 seeds receiving a bye to the semifinals. Onteam is selected from each of the four major conferences through automatic qualification, and two teams are selected for at-large bids. The following conferences have been granted automatic qualification for the championship:

Big West Conference
Conference Carolinas
Easter
n Intercollegiate Volleyball Association
Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
