FACILITIES

The Cougars home pool is the Richards Building Pool on BYU's campus. One of the finest facilities in the nation when it was completed in 1971, this building was named for Stephen L. Richards. Besides being a proponent of physical education and good sportsmanship, Richards served on the BYU Board of Trustees, as assistant commissioner of Church education and as a counselor in the First Presidency for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The facility includes three heated swimming pools, which serve as the home for BYU's men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Pool facilities include aluminum diving boards, under-water lighting, observation and photography windows, permanent racing lanes and equipment for beginning swimmers and family groups.

COACHING STAFF

John Brooks joined the BYU coaching staff during the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach and was named the head coach following the retirement of Tim Powers following the 2012 season.

A talented young coach and strong recruiter, Brooks' expertise as a coach has landed him coveted invitations to work with world-class athletes at Georgia and Alabama. Brooks also spent a summer helping with the Stanford swim camps. A 2003 economics graduate and swimming letterwinner at the University of Utah, Brooks served as a volunteer coach at his alma mater in 2005-06, where he coached the sprint and stroke groups. With Brooks on the staff, the Ute women's squad won the Mountain West Conference regular season and championship meet trophies, while the men's team placed 23rd at the NCAA Championships.
