Decision Wednesday Regarding MWC Events

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Mountain West Conference athletic directors today convened via teleconference and will make a recommendation tomorrow to the MWC Board of Directors regarding the playing of all athletic contests for the remainder of the week.

There is a need to monitor events for the next 24 hours before making a definitive determination. A decision regarding MWC athletic events for the remainder of the week is expected after 2:00 MT.

"We are most concerned about the safety of all our student-athletes and supporters, as well as the propriety of conducting competition in light of today's tragedy," commissioner Craig Thompson said today. "Numerous logistical problems have developed and need to be addressed and it is just too early to proceed with any plans at this time."
