Mannova Receives Conference Honors

PROVO, Utah (Oct. 3, 2001) After leading the BYU women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Stanford Invitational last weekend, Michaela Mannova was named Mountain West Conference women's cross country athlete of the week Tuesday.

Mannova, a sophomore, finished second in the 4K race at the Stanford Invitational, finishing in a time of 12:54. The race was the first of Mannova's career at BYU.

Prior to coming to BYU, Mannova ran for the University of New Orleans, where she earned an All-American citation for indoor track. She was named Sun Belt Conference Athlete of the Week in cross country seven times as a Privateer.

Mannova is the second Cougar to receive conference honors for the women's cross country team. Tara Northcutt was named MWC women's cross country athlete of the week on Sept. 25.

University of Utah senior Teren Jameson was named men's cross country athlete of the week after finishing third in the 8K race at Stanford.
