Lundell, Hirsch receive postseason WCC honors

2020-21 Men's Golf Postseason Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – BYU’s Carson Lundell and Kelton Hirsch received All-WCC men’s golf postseason honors on Monday.

Lundell was one of ten players named to the All-WCC Men’s Golf First Team, while Hirsch was one of five players named All-WCC Honorable Mention.

Lundell received first-team honors following a tie for third place at the WCC Championship on May 1, one of his five top-3 finishes of the season. The junior from Alpine, Utah finished under-par in three-straight tournaments and collected first-place individual honors at the Nick Watney Invitational on Feb. 8-9, the Western Intercollegiate on April 12-14 and the PING Cougar Classic on April 23-24.

Lundell, who is currently No. 65 in the GolfStat NCAA Men's D1 Top 250 Rankings, was named All-WCC Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2018-19 and becomes the first Cougar to receive all-conference first team status a since Peter Kuest and Rhett Rasmussen in 2018-19.

Kelton Hirsch played his best golf of the season at the WCC Championship, finishing 10th with a three-round score of 7-under 67-70-72—209. The senior from Centerville, Utah played in nine of ten tournaments for BYU and had another top-10 finish at the Rustic Collegiate Classic on Nov. 5-6.

Hirsch was named to the WCC All-Academic Team as a junior in 2019-20.

Lundell, Hirsh and the BYU golf team will learn if they have been selected to compete at NCAA Regionals during the Golf Channel’s NCAA Championship Selection Show on Wednesday, May 5 at 12 p.m. MDT.
