Cougars Finish Sixth, Blair Third at Desert Shootout
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The BYU men's golf team finished three strokes out of the third place Saturday, capturing sixth and recording their second-straight top-10 finish at the Desert Shootout.
After sitting tied for first after two rounds, sophomore Zac Blair shot a third-round 71 to grab third place overall. Blair finished the tournament with a 13-under 203, a Cougar best this season.
"Zac had a great week," said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. "Today he made some good shots early and put himself in good situations."
Moving up 12 spots from day two, Cameron Edens posted a 2-under 70 in round three to tie for 19th place overall. Edens has finished in the tope-20 in three tournaments as a Cougar.
Freshman Cole Ogden and senior Esteban Calisto finished tied for 35th and 47th respectively. Ogden shot a third-round, even-par 72 to tally a 1-under 215 tournament total. Calisto's final-round 73 brought his tournament total to 217 (+1).
Sophomore Adam Tebbs finished tied for 68th after a 3-over 75 on the final day. Tebbs' tournament total was a 6-over 222.
Up next for BYU is the annual Cougar Classic, held at Riverside Country Club April 15-16.
