Cougars Take Sixth at MWC Tournament
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Despite a strong start in rounds one and two, the BYU men's golf team finished the final round of the Mountain West Conference Championships in sixth place Saturday.
"We had a good chance to do very well coming into today," said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. "Our expectations were high, but we had a sloppy start and weren't able to make a lot of putts."
Sophomore Zac Blair was BYU's top finisher, carding a 1-over 214 tournament total to tie for 13th place overall, his second-consecutive top-25 finish at the MWC tournament.
Cole Ogden and Esteban Calisto finished the tournament as part of a three-way tie for 22nd place. Ogden shot an even-par 71 in round three while Calisto shot a 2-over 73 to give both Cougars a 4-over 217 tournament total.
Cameron Edens was not far behind, finishing tied for 24th overall after a third-round 75 (+4) brought his tournament total to 218 (+5).
Rounding out the Cougar lineup was Adam Tebbs, who carded a final-round 81 (+10) to finish in 39th place overall.
