No. 41 BYU faces No. 45 Boise State as part of College MatchDay

PROVO, Utah – After earning a perfect record at home, No. 41 BYU men’s tennis team begins its six-match road trip with a match against No. 45 Boise State on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. MDT.
The USTA announced this week that the match between the Cougars (15-4) and the Broncos (12-8) will be featured as a College MatchDay, which will be held in conjunction with the U.S. Davis Cup Team’s World Group Quarterfinal tie vs. Serbia April 5-7 at Boise State’s Taco Bell Arena.
The USTA launched College MatchDay this year to highlight a number of premier men’s and women’s college tennis team matches each season, organizing activities and local outreach surrounding the host team’s campus. College MatchDay will feature a team match every week beginning in 2014.
BYU holds a 20-13 all-time record against Boise State, who represents the Mount West Conference and the ITA mountain region. The Cougars are 32-0 in the mountain region over the past four years.
No. 37 Patrick Kawka represents BYU in the ITA national singles ranking, with a 14-4 mark in 2013.
At 15-3, Francis Sargeant holds the best overall record in singles play this season for the Cougars. The England native is the winner of 10 of his last 11 matches, including four consecutive wins.
Sophomore Keaton Cullimore’s win streak continues to improve. With the recent win over Saint Mary’s, the No. 4 singles player has won seven straight matches.
Boise State features No. 29 Andrew Bettles at the No. 1 singles position. The Broncos are currently riding an eight-match win streak, including a 7-0 sweep over Utah State.
BYU next travels to Portland on April 11 to face the Pilots at 10 a.m. PDT.
