Vilms Ousted in NCAA Singles Championships

COLLEGE STATION -- Gert Vilms played a tough first set in the first round of the NCAA Championships, but lost in straight sets to No. 28 David Martin of Stanford, 6-3, 6-0.

Vilms finished the season with a 21-11 record in singles play. Vilms is not done at the Championships though, as he will join Carlos Lozano in doubles play Thursday at 2 p.m. No. 7 Lozano and Vilms will play No. 12 Fruterro and Kowalczyk of California. The two pairs met earlier in the year, with Lozano and Vilms winning the match.
