PROVO -- All-conference honors for the 2002-03 season were announced tonight at the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championship banquet in Provo, Utah. BYU head coach Jim Osborne was named the MWC Coach of the Year while Carlos Lozano and Erik Nyman received both singles and doubles first-team honors.

In his final season at the helm of the BYU team, Osborne has led his team to an 11-9 overall record and a share of the MWC regular season title with a 4-1 record. This award marks the second time in three seasons that Osborne has received the coach of the year honor. He will be retiring after this season after 15 years as head coach for the Cougars.

"Jim Osborne has done a lot to further college tennis at BYU and in our conference," said Bob Burda, Assistant Commissioner for Communications for the MWC. "We want to thank him for all that he has done and we wish him the best of luck."

Nyman has played primarily at the No. 1 spot in singles and has compiled an impressive 20-10 overall record. Lozano finished the season winning four of his last five matches at the No. 2 position to go 4-1 in MWC play and finish with a 17-11 overall record. This is the first time that Nyman has been named to the All-conference team while this marks the third time for Lozano.

Lozano and Nyman have also played at the No. 1 doubles position all year. The Cougar tandem are currently ranked 45th nationally and have compiled an overall record of 20-13.
