Natalie Shields earns All-Academic honors

PROVO, Utah – Natalie Shields earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association for her standout academic and athletic achievements throughout the cross country season this past fall. 

Shields finished 14th during the Mountain Region Championships and currently maintains a 3.67 GPA.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. They also must have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top-15 percent in 2012.

A total of 115 student-athletes represent the 69 institutions that compose the group. Florida State led all schools in the country with five named to the All-Academic list followed by six schools (Kentucky, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgetown, and Arkansas) that tallied four on the list.

Abbey D’Agostino of Dartmouth was named the Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year.
