White finishes in 44th place at regionals, season ends
CLE ELUM, Wash. - Freshman Alexandra White finished tied in 44th place and fell short at the NCAA West Regionals at Tumble Creek Club on Saturday.
"I thought she played better than she scored, but I thought there were a lot of positives," BYU women's golf coach Carrie Roberts said. "You can't beat experience. I think she'll take a lot from this and it will help her in the future."
White finished second among individuals at 15-over-par, one stroke ahead of UTSA's third-place Fabiola Arriaga, and trailed CSU-Northridge's first-place Clariss Guce by 10 strokes.
White went 7-over-par on the day and added another birdie to her total of six birdies during the 54-hole tournament.
The top eight teams that advanced to the championships are Southern California, Washington, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Iowa State, Texas A&M and Northwestern.
White and the BYU women's golf team will look to build on this season's experience next year as they start another year in the West Coast Conference.
