Van Mierlo named MRGC's Gymnast of the Week

LOGAN, Utah – Freshman Jill Van Mierlo was named Gymnast of the Week by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference.

Van Mierlo is the first Cougar to receive the weekly honor this season. She tied for first place in the all-around with a career-best score of 39.325 and recorded career-highs on bars (9.800) and beam (9.925).

The freshman shared the award with Boise State’s Kelsey Morris, who tied Van Mierlo on the all-around in Saturday's tri-meet.

The Cougars will compete against Southern Utah for the second time this season on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse. The meet will be televised live on BYUtv with live stats found on the BYU gymnastics schedule page.
