No. 15 BYU hosts MRGC Championship
PROVO, Utah – The No. 15 BYU gymnastics team will host the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championship on Friday, Mar. 22, in the Marriott Center.

THE COUGARS. In last week's competition, BYU placed second with a 195.825 at Arizona State in a tri-meet with the Gym Devils and West Virginia. On Senior Night, the Cougars topped Southern Utah 196.550 to 195.975. The fans recognized seniors Natasha Marsh and Cheyenne Hill following the meet. Junior Shannon Evans was named MRGC Gymnast of the Week for the third time in a row after scoring a 39.425 in the all-around.
IN THE RANKINGS. BYU has consistently been in the rankings with its highest rank of the season coming in at No. 6 during week two. The Cougars currently hold the No. 15 spot with an RQS score of 196.570 and are averaging a 196.120, with a high score of 197.000.
THE BRONCOS. Boise State's most recent meet was cancelled due to weather in Nebraska. The Broncos last meet was against BYU where they scored a 196.325; their season best came against the Cougars in the Smith Fieldhouse when they earned a 197.175. Courtney McGregor and Sarah Means have stepped up in recent meets and are the gymnasts to watch.
THE FLIPPIN' BIRDS. Southern Utah has cracked the Top 25 this season and is currently No. 24 after earning a 195.975 against the Cougars. The Flippin' Birds' highest score of the season was a 196.575 against Temple. Shylen Murakami was named MRGC Beam Specialist of the week for the second time this season after scoring a 9.875 last weekend.
THE AGGIES. Utah State has yet to place first at a meet in MRGC competition. Most recently, the Aggies competed against No. 2 UCLA and scored a 194.850. Their highest score this season was a 196.075 in a quad meet where they placed first.
