Cougars to Battle Aggies in Logan
PROVO -- After some tough losses on the road the past few weeks, the BYU women's gymnastics team will travel to Logan this weekend on take on Utah State Friday at 7 p.m.
The Cougars have been practicing hard and solving some problems in order to prepare for the in-state clash with the Aggies.
"We have had a hard time adjusting, "BYU head coach Brad Cattermole said. "But we are picking up our intensity and making much-needed adjustments. We are a lot better off coming into this meet then with some of the other ones."
BYU scored in the 192 range against Kentucky and in the Cat Classic due to falls, illness and injuries earlier this month. BYU also fell to the Boise State Broncos last weekend, but recorded a season high team score of 195.900.
"I was very, very pleased with the level of performance of last weeks meet, "Cattermole said. "We are looking better as a team, and we are improving in a lot of areas."
Utah State has earned some high scores this season and will be fierce competition for BYU. The Cougars will need to keep focused on their performances and execute the best they can to get a high score.
"We will have to fight to keep the same intensity we had last week to score as high as we'd like," Cattermole said. "Utah State is a great team, but we need to focus more on our scores and our performances. We know that we have to hit to get the scores that we want out of this meet."
Last year, BYU beat Utah State both at home and in Logan. The Cougars scored a 195.425 the last time they traveled to Logan to face the Aggies.
Next weekend, the Cougars finally head home for their second home meet of the season. BYU faces Kentucky Friday at 7 p.m.
