Ferrell Takes BYU Invitational Singles Title

The BYU women's tennis team played well in hosting the BYU Invitational. The tournament featured the Cougars' tennis players matching up with players from Washington State, Weber State, Colorado State, Boise State and in-state rival Utah.

In an all-BYU final in the first singles flight, Lindsay Ferrell defeated Lu Oswald 7-6, 6-4 to take the title. Ferrell lost only one set throughout the tournament. Brooke Beverly also competed in the first singles flight.

The tournament featured two singles flights and one doubles flight. Ferrell teamed with Dominique Reynolds to advance to the semifinals before being knocked off by the team of Arias and Martinez from Washington State, who eventually won the championship.

In the second singles flight, two Washington State players advanced to the finals and decided to play the championship match at home. Elyse Jensen was the only Cougar in the second singles flight and retired in her first match.
