Four BYU Players Earn Mountain West Conference Tennis Awards
PROVO - BYU placed two singles players and two doubles teams on the inaugural women's tennis all-conference teams as announced by the Mountain West Conference.
Senior Eline Chiew and Junior Jodi Richardson earned all-conference honors in both singles and doubles. Chiew, currently ranked 92nd in the country, has a 17-15 record playing at number one singles. Richardson has a 10-10 singles record and led the Cougars to a second-place finish in the MWC tournament with three singles victories.
In doubles, Chiew teamed with freshman Lu Oswald and Richardson paired with senior Kim Kelly to earn all-conference honors. BYU was the only MWC school to place two doubles teams on the all-conference list.
UNLV senior Katarina Malec was named Mountain West Conference player of the year and New Mexico's Ashley Hedberg was named freshman of the year. UNLV's Kevin Cory, in his first year with the Rebels, earned coach of the year honors.
