Netters Host Last Conference Match
PROVO, Utah -- The BYU women’s tennis team welcomes rivals No. 55 Utah to the Outdoor Tennis Courts Friday at noon for the teams’ last meeting as conference opponents.
The Cougars (9-10, 4-3) look to bounce back from a hard loss to No. 43 UNLV Saturday.
Despite the loss, senior Elle Carney come out of the weekend with a 3-1 record after winning doubles matches with Aubrey Paul against San Diego State and UNLV opponents. The duo holds a 10-4 overall record. Carney also defeated her UNLV singles opponent Nives Pavlovic 7-5, 6-3.
Freshman Callie Craig of Orem, Utah leads the team in singles with a 21-13 record. With Megan Price, Craig has a 20-11 doubles record.
Ute Sarah Pham is on an eight-match winning streak with a 22-10 overall singles record. Paige Miles and Anastasia Putilina lead the Utes (12-9, 6-1) in doubles with an 18-11 record overall.
The last time the teams met, Utah pulled away with a 5-2 win on their home court.
Admission to the match is free. Prizes and treats are available. Spectators may park in Y Lot parking lots northwest and south of the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
In the case of bad weather, the match will be moved to the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts.
