A 6-foot-1 sophomore out of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael Loyd is an athletic player who can contribute at either guard position. He appeared in all but three games as a true freshman in 2007-08, mostly playing back-up point guard, while averaging 8.8 minutes, 2.2 points, 1.2 assists and 0.9 rebounds per game. Loyd redshirted in 2008-09. In addition to his shooting touch, he is also known as a defensive stopper who excels in the open court as he ranked in the top 10 in steals, top 20 in scoring and top 25 in assists among all players in Nevada his senior year of high school.
