Keegan Brown enters his third season as a member of the BYU Men’s Basketball staff in 2021-22. He first joined his alma mater as Video Coordinator in November 2019, before being promoted to Director of Video and Strategy in the Summer of 2020.

In 2021, BYU made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 and finished as runners-up in the WCC Conference Tournament. The team would have also been dancing in the 2020 NCAA Tournament if not for COVID-19 cancelling the entire tournament. Across these two years, the Cougars finished in the top 25 national rankings in back-to-back years with a combined record of 44-15. The 2020-2021 team finished in the top 3 in the WCC in 18 different statistical categories, and the 2019-2020 team finished 13th in the nation in KenPom, the program’s highest ranking since finishing the 2010-2011 season (#12).

In his day-to-day duties for the program, Brown breaks down all the game, practice, and recruiting film through the use of SportsCode, and since he arrived, BYU has been top 10 in SportsCode usage and performance for all associated teams. Brown also oversees the program’s analytical efforts. With analytics serving as a hallmark of Coach Pope’s program philosophy, Brown’s work is used in every aspect of the program and decision-making.

Brown also manages all third-party relationships that directly affect basketball performance. This includes facilitating a new relationship with JustPlay that helped improve the efficiency of delivering film and scouting reports to the staff and players. He also helped set up a partnership with HD Intelligence, an analytics company who is providing NBA-like analytics to college programs around the country. Additionally, he led the way to get the NOAH Shooting Tracking System with Facial Tracking installed in the BYU Practice Facility, a technology that less than 10 college basketball programs have– and only about two-thirds of NBA teams have as well.

Prior to his time with Cougars MBB, Brown held a variety of positions at teams and organizations like the Salt Lake City Stars, Charlotte Hornets, Real Salt Lake, BYU Athletic Department, etc. His basketball experience includes serving as an amateur scout for various organizations, working at multiple basketball camps, and working hand-in-hand with an NBA player agent to run operations, complete analytical projects and provide Salary Cap Market Research for his agency.

Keegan is married to his wife, Laura. They have two sons, William and Lincoln. He can be followed on Twitter @Keegs32.
