SPRING WOODS HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year varsity starter, Rose averaged 21.8 points (fifth in the All-Greater Houston Area), 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists as a senior splitting time between the point (15 games) and shooting guard (20 games) positions at Spring Woods High School in Houston ... being the team's biggest threat, he was moved from the point to the shooting guard spot to keep teams from double-teaming him at midcourt ... shot 52 percent from the floor, including 48 percent from three point range, while leading Texas 5A schools with 108 treys ... a preseason All-Greater Houston First Team selection, he was named second-team All-State, first-team All-District 21 and first-team All-Region as a senior ... team MVP his junior and senior seasons, he was a three-time first-team All-District 21 5A selection after being named District 21 Freshman of the Year ... was the District 21 Don Coleman Scholarship winner ... helped team to second-place District 21 finishes as a sophomore and junior ... averaged 16.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists playing shooting guard as a junior ... lettered in track once and was a four-time letterwinner in golf, earning team MVP honors his senior season.
HOUSTON HOOPS AAU: Rose played four years on the Houston Hoops summer AAU team, playing with and against many of the nation's top players ... as the team's starting shooting guard, Rose averaged 14 points and helped the team earn a No. 1 national rating for much of the summer of 2002.

Summary

An excellent shooter out of Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas, Mike Rose finished his BYU career ranked second on BYU's all-time list for most three-pointers with 163, including 61 as a senior. He averaged 5.6 points per game on .421 shooting from the floor, including a career .428 mark from three-point range, and owns the Cougar record for most three-pointers in a game with eight. As a senior, he ranked third in the Mountain West Conference in three-point shooting and was a significant scoring threat off the bench, coming in to hit at least three three-pointers in nine games. He also led the Mountain West Conference in three-point percentage his freshman year (2003-04) and was fourth in the MWC with 56 threes as a sophomore. With range well beyond the three-point arc, he utilizes a 37-inch vertical to shoot over taller defenders with a quick release and can dunk off either foot.
