SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Nov. 14, 2003) The BYU men's swimming and diving team went 2-1 in dual competition Friday afternoon at Notre Dame, defeating the Irish and Louisville while losing to Iowa.
The Cougars crushed the Cardinal, 236-56, beat Notre Dame, 178-116 and lost to Iowa, 156-142.
The three dual meets went on simultaneously with each event having two heats coach Tim Powers said before the meet.
Freshman Mark Chay won two races, finishing in 1:40.02 in the 200 free and 45.57 in the 100 free. Also winning for the Cougars were Ryan Mullen (50 free), Justin Beardall (3-meter diving) and Diogo Yabe (400 IM).
The 200 free relay team, consisting of Mullen, James Bekker, David Larsen and Gary Tan also won its race.
