BOISE, Idaho - The BYU men's track & field team performed well, including finishing first in six different events, at the Blue and Orange meet at Boise State on Saturday.

"It was a good meet for us," men's head coach Mark Robison said. "I wasn't as pleased with some of the times, but I was really pleased with how we placed against the other teams."

For the second week in a row, Victor Weirich finished first in the pole vault impressively clearing 5.50-meters, a measurement that qualifies him for nationals.

"I set a goal of clearing 5.50m today and it was very fulfilling to be able to meet the goal today," Weirich said. "It's great that I no longer have to worry about qualifying for nationals.  Now I can just concentrate on improving the little things."

Also on field events, Kyle Mills and Dakota John both took second place in the triple jump and the high jump, with marks of 14.35m and 2.09m respectively and Colby Barber also finished third in the shot put, posting 15.93m.

BYU swept the 800m race with Ryan Waite taking first, breaking the stadium record in 1:49.8, a time that places him in the top three in the nation. Justin Hedin finished in second, with a time of 1:50.1 and Ryan Jones coming in third, in 1:53.6.

Taylor Farnsworth finished first in the mile, finishing with a time of 4:12.12 and Rhyan Atrice also finished first in the 400m, with a time of 48.95.

Freshman Shaquille Walker continues to impress with a 1:18.91 victory in the 600m, with Cade Lindahl finishing second, in 1:19.15, and the team of Atrice, Lindahl, Chris Carter and Walker took first in the 4x400m with a time of 3:12.39, a time that currently ranks them 10th in the nation.
