Shane Tye joins the BYU women’s volleyball staff with five years of experience coaching NCAA Division I women’s volleyball. His coaching background includes two seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Utah and three years at San Francisco, where he served one season as an assistant coach and two years as the associate head coach.
Tye, who was born in Salt Lake City and attended Taylorsville High School, joined the BYU men’s volleyball team in 2011. Tye played for the Cougars for two years and graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and wellness.
After earning his degree, Tye worked as a practice coordinator for the University of Utah women’s volleyball team before joining the coaching staff at Southern Utah as an assistant coach, ahead of the 2016 season.
In 2018, Tye became an assistant coach for the San Francisco indoor volleyball and beach volleyball programs. Following his first year with the Dons, Tye was promoted to associate head coach in the summer of 2019.
Tye’s experience also includes eight years as a lead coach for Gold Medal Squared, coaching at high school volleyball clinics hosted across the country. He also spent one year as the strength and conditioning coach for Club V Volleyball.
