Davies leads team to Portsmouth championship game

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – BYU’s Brandon Davies put together another stellar performance at the 2013 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament as he registered a double-double to lead K&D Round’s Landscaping to an 82-79 win over Portsmouth Partnership on Friday. Davies and K&D will play in the Portsmouth Invitational championship on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT.

Davies was nearly unstoppable for the second-straight night as he totaled 23 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one block in 31 minutes for K&D. He hit 9 of 15 from the field and 5 of 8 from the free throw line. Among the many highlights for Davies was an alley-oop with 7:39 remaining in the first half that put his team ahead 33-19.

In two games at the Portsmouth Invitational, Davies is averaging 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals while shooting .652 from the field.  Ten of the 20 rebounds collected by Davies have been on the offensive end.

Including the Reese’s All-Star game and the Portsmouth Invitational, Davies’ three-game averages are 17.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals.

K&D Round’s will take on Roger Brown’s Restaurant on Saturday.  The game is scheduled to be broadcast live on ulive.cbssports.com at 8 p.m. EDT.

Earlier today, NBA Draft expert Chad Ford of ESPN.com highlighted players to watch at the 2013 Portsmouth Invitational. Here is some of what Ford had to say

"Davies is both a good athlete and has more skill than you might think at first glance. He has a solid face-the-basket game and a pretty high basketball IQ ... He was one of the few guys NBA scouts seemed excited about after the first two days of the event."
