PROVO, Utah – Junior Matt Carlino made a career-high eight 3-pointers to lead the BYU men’s basketball team past Portland in an 89-72 home victory on Saturday.

"This is a really big win for our guys and a good weekend," BYU basketball coach Dave Rose said. "I'm really happy and really pleased for our players. I think our players have had a really challenging last couple of weeks and the way they have responded to some tough situations and challenges is rewarding as a coach to watch them get together and get some big wins behind them. We'll take this momentum and hopefully it will help us in San Diego."
