PROVO, Utah – Kyle Collinsworth finished with a near triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in BYU’s 85-72 win over Loyola Marymount on Saturday night.

"We shot the ball a little better and rebounded the ball a little better tonight," BYU basketball coach Dave Rose said. "I'm pleased with the win and look forward to Monday at practice to improve on things and go out on the road again. It will be quite a road trip."

Collinsworth added four steals and Tyler Haws led both teams with 26 points while adding four rebounds and three assists. Chase Fischer made 5 of 8 3-pointers to finish with 19 points, four assists and a block on the night.

Anson Winder added 15 points, three rebounds and five assists, while Skyler Halford finished with nine points, four assists and two steals off the bench. The Cougars assisted on 25 of their 28 field goals and shot 50.9 percent from the field.

BYU started the game on a 10-0 run that included consecutive triples by Winder and Fischer 2:34 into the game. Fischer recorded a block at the 17:09 mark which followed by his baseline feed to Collinsworth for the dunk two minutes later to lead 14-7. Fischer, Haws and Jake Toolson connected on four more 3-pointers to extend the Cougars’ lead to 15 at 28-13 with 12:19 left in the half.

Fischer made his fourth 3-pointer of the game to push the lead to 35-21. After LMU cut its deficit to 40-30, Haws answered with a solo 5-0 run to push BYU back up 15 with 1:56 left in the half.

With under one minute remaining in the half, Halford made his first 3-pointer to send the Cougars into the break with a 47-36 advantage. Haws led all scorers with 17 points with Fischer following up with 14 points, making four first-half triples. Nine of 15 BYU field goals were made from beyond the arc.

LMU reeled off a quick 7-0 run to come within six at 49-43 early in the first half, but it was ended by Fischer’s bucket on the break at the 15:44 mark. Another 4-0 Lions run cut their deficit to 51-47, but was answered by Collinsworth’s putback dunk to put BYU back up six with 14:19 left on the clock. The Cougars pushed their lead back to 66-49 with a 13-0 run which included 3-pointers from Halford and Fischer.

With 5:10 remaining, Winder assisted Collinsworth for the throwdown to maintain BYU’s 74-62 lead. Haws completed his three-point play at the 1:51 mark to help BYU take the game 85-72.

The Cougars now go on a three-game road trip, starting with Pacific on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. PST. The game will be televised live on ESPNU and broadcast on the Cougar IMG Sports Network on KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM/1160 AM.
