Collinsworth earns third WCC Player of the Week honor
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named BYU junior guard Kyle Collinsowth its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for February 9, 2015.
Collinsworth averaged 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals as BYU split a pair of road games at Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount. Against the Waves, Collinsworth registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars fell 80-74.
He helped BYU bounce back two days later with his NCAA-record setting fifth triple-double that included a career-high tying 23 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals.
At LMU, Collinsworth helped the Cougars start strong, scoring his team’s first six points and 10 of BYU’s first 17. He ended the first half with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals as BYU led 40-30 at the break. He was even more well rounded in the second half as he totaled nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.
For perspective, the 2014-15 NBA triple-double co-leaders – Michael Carter-Williams and Rajon Rondo – each have three.
