Haws named Utah Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year

SALT LAKE CITY – BYU senior guard Tyler Haws was named the Utah Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year at the Governor’s State of Sport Awards Tuesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

Haws finished his senior season third in the nation and first in the WCC in scoring at 22.2 points per game while also averaging 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The senior guard out of Alpine, Utah, concluded his decorated career as BYU’s all-time scoring leader with 2,720 points.

In addition to being named the top Collegiate Male Athlete in Utah, Haws also earned AP All-America Honorable Mention and was named a Senior CLASS Award Second-Team All-American. He was also named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team and first-team all-district by the USBWA and the NABC.

The other finalists for the Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year were Zach Vigil (Utah State football), Tom Hackett (Utah football), Devontae Booke (Utah football), Nate Orchard (Utah football) and Delon Wright (Utah basketball).
