“I’m really proud of our guys,” BYU head coach Mark Pope said. “They’re fighting, they’re working and they’re getting better. They’re trying to digest everything that we ask them to do. They came out here and battled courageously and didn’t go away.”

Haws launched one final three-point attempt before time expired but the ball rimmed out, and Saint Mary’s came away with the 87-84 win.

Saint Mary’s opened the game on a 5-0 run, but a layup by Kolby Lee followed by midrange jumpers by Barcello and Haws brought BYU within one, 7-6, four minutes into the contest.
