BYU to Host Northwest Sports Tuesday
PROVO -- With visa troubles keeping the Worldwide team from the Dominican Republic from coming to Provo, BYU will now host Northwest Sports Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center in its final exhibition game. Northwest Sports is a collection of players with college and professional experience, including six players with local ties.
The 13-player Northwest Sports roster includes former BYU standout Ken Roberts, recently departed University of Utah guard Marc Jackson, Jimmy Degraffenried and Quinten Tebbs from Weber State, Jamal Peterson out of Utah State and Chris Williams from Snow College.
After picking up Tuesday's game, Northwest Sports & Entertainment, Inc., will field a team against 10 Division I opponents from 10 separate conferences this exhibition season. Other games on its schedule include Gonzaga, West Virginia, Arkansas and BYU's potential Cable Car Classic opponent Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Northwest Sports also plays some Division II and junior college schools. In total, Northwest Sports plays 26 games this season in 12 states.
BYU opened its exhibition season Thursday with a 75-72 victory over the EA Sports West All-Stars. After Tuesday's game, the Cougars open the regular season on Nov. 21 in the Marriott Center against Southern Utah.
Tickets to Tuesday's game can be purchased at the Marriott Center Ticket Office or by calling 378-BYU1. Tickets prices are $5 for upper bench, $10 for upper chair, $15 for lower chair and $5 for students. Students can also attend with a BYU All-Sport Card.
