BYU to host two home meets this weekend
PROVO, Utah – BYU swim and dive will host UNLV Friday night, followed by a double-dual meet Saturday against UC Davis and Colorado Mesa at the Richards Building Pool. Friday’s meet will include both men’s and women’s teams, while Saturday’s double-dual meet will feature the men’s team against Colorado Mesa and the women’s team battling UC Davis.
“UNLV has always been a great opponent throughout the years,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “We have traded wins back and forth over the last 30 years, and this will be a chance to race a great team. UC Davis will also be a great meet. We faced them last year, and we are expecting our women's team to show up and improve on last year's times. Colorado Mesa will also give our men’s team a great chance to swim some different events and go out to battle and compete.”
The men's swimmers will be lead by last week’s CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer-of-the-Week Jake Taylor, who won all four of his events in a team win at the Pacific Invite. The women’s team will look to bounce back this weekend after a close loss against Boise State on Saturday. Kevin Dreesen, who placed first in the one and three-meter dives at the Colorado Mesa Invite last month, and Ali Tippetts-Kottcamp, who won the one-meter against Boise State, will lead the divers.
Friday night’s meet against UNLV will begin at 5 p.m. MST, while Saturday’s meet with UC Davis and Colorado Mesa will start at 11 a.m. MST. Admission is free and Cougar fans are invited to come support the team at the Richards Building Pool. Results will be posted immediately following the meets on the men’s and women’s schedule pages.
