Wilcock and Bradley Earn All-American Honors

Cougars Finish No. 23 in Final Standings

ATHENS -- BYU divers Justin Wilcock and Andy Bradley both earned All-American citations for their performances at the 2002 Men's NCAA Championships held at the University of Georgia, Saturday. Their performances helped the Cougars finish No. 23 in the country for the final national ranking.

Wilcock earned first-team All-America status in the 3-meter event placing seventh in the country with a score of 569.35, making him the first Cougar diver to earn first-team status since head diving coach Keith Russell in 1972. The native of Smithfield, Utah, also earned second-team All-America citations in the 1-meter and platform events with scores of 288.90 and 481.10, respectively.

"We're really excited about Wilcock's first-team All-America performance," BYU Men's Head Swim Coach Tim Powers said. "Wilcock was the only diver to score points in the platform without having the opportunity to practice on a 10-meter platform himself."

Bradley, a freshman, earned second-team All-America honors for his 16th-place finish in the 1-meter event with a score of 285.50. Bradley is the sixth diver in school history to earn All-America accolades.

"Our divers represented BYU well," said BYU Head Diving Coach Russell. "I'm glad that they were able to help rank the entire team in the top 25 and help our university in the Sears Cup standings."
