Savickas, Russell and Einfeldt Earn MWC Honors

PROVO -- BYU swimmer Arunas Savickas, and divers Aaron Russell and Kelli Einfeldt were honored as the Mountain West Conference swimmer and divers of the week Wednesday.

Savickas, a three-time All-American from Panevezys, Lithuania, earned his second MWC Swimmer of the Week award for his performance at the Speedo Cup, Nov. 30-Dec.2. Savickas won the 100 free (44.68), 200 free (1:36.46), 500 free (4:21.39), and was on the winning 200 medley (1:31.88) and 400 free (2:59.42) relay teams. He also swam on the second-place 200 free (1:21.94), 800 free (6:38.19) and 400 medley (3:19.73) relay teams. Savickas has conference-best times in the 100 free, the 200 free and the 500 free. His 500 free time is a new BYU and MWC record. His times in the 200 and 500 free are also tops in the nation. His leg in the 400 free relay set new BYU and MWC records with a time of 44.30. All BYU's relay teams, which Savickas swims on, currently lead the conference with the 400 and 800 free relay teams both having the fourth-best times in the country.

Russell, a sophomore All-American from Provo, Utah, earned his second MWC Diver of the Week award for his performance at the BYU Diving Invitational, Dec. 1-2.. Russell swept the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events with scores of 349.75, 540.65 and 282.05, respectively. He currently has the conference-best score on the 3-meter board.

Einfeldt, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, also earned her second MWC Diver of the Week award for her performance at the BYU Diving Invitational. Einfeldt finished second on the 1-meter board and third on the 3-meter board with scores of 266.85 and 465.7, respectively.
