Grant Named MWC Swimmer of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 13) -- BYU senior Amanda Grant has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Grant, a Moses Lake, Wash., product raced to two individual victories and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team, helping the Cougars to wins over San Diego State and Northern Arizona in Albuquerque, N.M. on November 7. She started the meet by being part of the winning 200-medley relay team, posting a time of 1:49.97. Grant followed her relay performance by winning the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard breaststroke events with times of 2:11.26 and 2:22.91, respectively.
Grant followed up her Thursday performance by helping the Cougars to a first place finish at the Lobo Invitational on November 8-9 at the University of New Mexico. BYU won the event by more than 100 points with Grant placing second in both the 100 (1:06.09) and 200-yard (2:22.45) breaststroke events. She also placed third in the 200 and 400-yard individual medley events in 2:11.91 and 4:45.77, respectively. Grant completed the six-team meet by being part of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay (7:52.56), as well as the 200 (1:49.72) and 400-yard (3:58.42) medley relay teams.
