Northcutt Earns Academic All-America District VIII Honors

PROVO -- Tara Northcutt earned 2002 Verizon Academic All-America District VIII Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team honors today.

Northcutt joins fellow Cougar John Hedengren, who was named to the men's first team earlier today, among those student-athletes receiving honors. A native of Provo, Utah majoring in Health Education, Northcutt has maintained a GPA of 3.66 in her BYU career.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), be in his second year of participation at the school and be an important contributor to his team. The team is selected by voting among members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America in the district, which is made up of schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
