BYU Finishes 15th at New Balance Invitational

NEW YORK CITY - In the largest meet it will compete in this season, the BYU men’s track and field team finished with 16 points, giving them a 15th place finish in a meet which had over 150 schools competing.

BYU was well represented in both the collegiate and championship categories.

In the championship category, BYU had three top-five finishers.

Cade Lindahl finished fourth in the 400m, finishing in 47.29.   Freshman, Shaquille Walker also continues to impress, finishing fifth in the 500m, with a time of 1:02.98.

Representing the distance runners, Tylor Thatcher finished third in the 3000m, finishing with a time of 8:08.28.

In the collegiate category, Jason Hinds represented BYU in the short distance races, finished second in the 200-meter, with a time of 21.76, and James McAllister rounded out the top ten in the 500m, with a time of 1:05.45.

BYU had two top ten finishers in the 3000m, with Alden Bahr finishing second and Steve Flint finishing seventh, with of 8:19.71 and 8:20.50 respectively, and Taylor Farnsworth continues his excellent season, finishing sixth in the mile, with a time of 4:08.7. 

In the field events, Dakota John finished second in the high jump, jumping 2.04m, and Kyle Mills finished eighth in the triple jump, posting 14.36m.

BYU will split its squad between the Air Force Invitational and the Husky Classic on Feb. 10-11. The distance runners will head to the Husky Classic while sprinters and jumpers will compete at Air Force.
