BYU to face Cal Baptist Monday

PROVO, Utah—After a weekend split, No. 4 BYU men’s volleyball finishes off its road trip facing Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif.

The Cougars (7-3, 7-1 MPSF) had their first conference loss of the season at No. 3 Pepperdine Friday, a five-set decision, before picking off No. 5 USC 3-2. Cal Baptist (3-6, 2-5 MPSF) comes off a non-conference win against Princeton Tuesday and 3-1 loss to USC Wednesday.

BYU leads the overall series with Cal Baptist 15-3, but is 1-1 on the road against the Lancers. The Cougars are on a seven-match win streak against Cal Baptist.

Following the Monday match, BYU takes a 10-day break before facing Pacific Feb. 14 on the road. 

Taylor Sander averages 4.23 kills per set for the Cougars on a .308 hit clip. Jaylen Reyes leads in digs with a 1.87 average. On the front line, Michael Hatch leads the team with 1.33 blocks per set, while Tyler Heap collects 10.58 assists per set.

Johannes Brink leads the Lancers with four kills per set, helped out by Brett Anderson with 10.19 assists per set. Anderson also leads on the back row with an average 1.53 digs, while Amir Lugo-Rodrigues has 1.09 blocks per set.
