Patch takes home MPSF Player of the Week honors

PROVO, Utah – Sophomore opposite Ben Patch was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Molten Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Patch led No. 2 BYU men’s volleyball to a pair of road wins at No. 7 Hawai’i last week to stay within a half match of first place in conference play. In the first match, Patch collected a match-high 22 kills with just one hitting error to rack up a season-high .700 clip. He also added three digs and three blocks in the sweep.

In the final match of the week, Patch added another match-high 17 kills to go along with six digs and four blocks. For the week, he averaged 6.07 points, 5.57 kills, 1.29 digs and 1.00 blocks per set while hitting at a .456 clip. The wins keep BYU on a nation-best 12-match win streak.

This is Patch's first MPSF honor of the year and third of his career.

Patch and the Cougars have a bye this week before hosting No. 9 Pepperdine beginning Friday, March 18, 2016, at 7 p.m. MST.
