Cougars Blank Hawai'i in Preseason Action

HONOLULU -- The BYU men's volleyball team defeated Hawai'i in preseason action on Wednesday, knocking off the Warriors in three straight games, 31-29, 30-27, 30-22.

Junior Mike wall led the Cougars with a match-high 17 kills on 32 swings, hitting .375 on the night. Junior Joaquin Acosta added 12 kills on 20 swings, hitting a blistering .500. Senior All-American Hector Lebron recorded a match-high 40 assists on the night, while junior Scott Bunker produced a team-leading five block-assists.

The Cougars will play in two more preseason matches in Hawaii before returning home this weekend. BYU will kick off the regular season on January 19 in Provo against LaVerne. The Cougars will also play an exhibition match against UVSC's club team in Orem on Friday, Jan. 12 and compete in an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, Jan. 13.
