Conference Home Opener Televised on KBYU
PROVO -- The BYU softball conference home-opener doubleheader against Colorado State will be broadcast on KBYU and BYUTV Friday at 2 p.m. at Gail Miller Field The Cougars will also host MWC foe New Mexico on Saturday with a start time of noon. The Cougars are 23-13, 2-2 after sweeping UNLV in the conference opener and then losing two at San Diego State, last weekend.
"We're excited to be back at our home field," head coach Mary Kay Amicone said.
The Cougars are 3-5 all-time versus Colorado State and 5-4 all-time versus New Mexico. BYU is undefeated at home this season with sweeps over Southern Utah and Utah State in non-conference play.
Sophomore Oli Keohohou leads the team in batting average and slugging percentage with .457 and 1.000, respectively. She also leads the conference in home runs with 14 and walks with 45.
Freshman Lauren Watson is also a player to watch, playing strong as of late to move into second place on the team in batting average with .330. Freshman Niki Andersen has won six of her last seven appearances on the mound and leads the team in ERA with 3.28.
