Six softball players earn Academic All-MWC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo -- Six members of the women's softball team were named Academic All-Mountain West this week for the 2003 season.

BYU led the MWC by having 125 student-athletes named Academic All-MWC out of the 622 honored during the spring semester.

To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at BYU while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.

Katy Barnes, Brooke Boyce, Mandy Flint, Lindsey Gerhauser, Belinda Osborn and Kate Walker represented the Cougar softball team earning All-MWC academic awards.

Barnes and Walker are two-time recipients of the Academic All-MWC award, both being named in 2002.

Barnes, Boyce, Gerhauser, Osborn and Walker will all return to the Cougar squad next season.
