After competing in back-to-back road tournaments, the BYU women’s basketball team (4-3) is back in Utah this week. The Cougar women host Weber State (6-1) Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11:00 a.m. MT. The game will be carried live on BYUtv and simulcast on BYU Radio on Sirius XM 143.

Four BYU players are putting up double figures in points led by 14.7 points from junior guard Cassie Broadhead. Senior guard Makenzi Pulsipher follows with 13.1 points. Senior forwardKalani Purcell is next scoring 12.0 points and a team-best 9.1 rebounds per contest. Senior guard/forward combo Kristine Nielson rounds out the scoring output for the Cougars with 10.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

As a team, BYU is scoring 63.0 points per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 28.4 percent from behind the 3-point line and 64.8 percent from the charity stripe. The Cougars pull down 37.0 rebounds a game.

In this year’s WCC preseason poll chosen by the coaches, BYU, the defending regular season conference champion, was selected to finish second in the league race behind Gonzaga. Purcell and Pulsipher were named to the Preseason All-Conference team.

WEBER STATE AT A GLANCE
Weber State has compiled a 6-1 record to date and is coming off a 76-37 win over Portland. The Wildcats return five letterwinners from last year’s team that finished with a 23-12 record. WSU was selected to finish tied for seventh place in the Big Sky Conferenceas selected bythe coaches poll.

Emily Drake and Deeshyra Thomas are putting up double digit scoring for Weber State with 16.3 and 13.9 points per game, respectively. Jocelyn Adams leads the way in the rebound category pulling down 6.0 boards a contest.

The Wildcats are averaging 72.0 points per game, shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 62.9 percent from the free throw line while grabbing 40.9 rebounds per contest.

THE SERIES
BYU leads 43-9. Coach Judkins is 12-2 all-time against the Wildcats. The two teams played last year in Ogden on Dec. 10. In that game, the Cougars picked up the 68-51 win. When playing in Provo, Weber State has a 1-21 record. The last time that the Wildcats won in Provo was on Dec. 29,1989, a 93-87 win.
