Gonzaga women come to Provo Saturday afternoon

BYU vs. Gonzaga Game Notes

PROVO, Utah — With a 62-52 home win over LMU, BYU women’s basketball (13-9, 8-3) remains in second place in the latest West Coast Conference standings. The Cougars are set to host league-leading Gonzaga (18-4, 11-0) this Saturday, Feb. 3,  at 2 p.m. MST.

BYUtv will carry live the game between BYU and the Bulldogs. Fans can also follow the action on BYU Radio - Sirius XM 143 with both an audio and a video stream available on line.

GAME PROMOTIONS
It's National Girls & Women in Sports Day, beginning at 1 p.m. Student-athletes representing BYU's women's sports teams will be in attendance. Posters, booths, NGWSD swag, t-shirts and free pink mint brownies will be available for all attendees. The event is free and includes admittance to the women's game at 2 p.m.

ABOUT BYU
The Cougars are averaging 68.0 points and 38.4 boards a contest. BYU shoots 42.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Nationally, BYU ranks eighth in blocked shots and ninth in blocked shots per game. Senior guard Cassie Broadhead Devashrayee ranks second in free throw attempts, fourth in free throws made and eighth in minutes played. Freshman center Sara Hamson ranks second in blocked shots per game and third in blocked shots.

Two players scored in double digits in the home win over LMU for the eighth time on the year. In 16 games, BYU has tallied more blocks than its opponents and has dished out more assists in eight. The Cougars have also pulled down more rebounds in a total of 11 games.

In conference play, BYU has a 5-0 mark when playing at home. Last season, the Cougars went undefeated in league action.

ABOUT GONZAGA
Gonzaga comes to Provo with an 18-4, 11-0 record after a 63-44 road win at San Diego Thursday night.

The Bulldogs are atop the WCC standings.

Gonzaga is scoring 72.7 points per game and pulls down 40.3 rebounds a contest. The Bulldogs shoot 44.2 percent from the field, 25.7 percent from 3-point range and 70.6 percent from the free-throw line.

SERIES HISTORY
Gonzaga leads the overall series against BYU 12-9. When playing in Provo, the Bulldogs have a 3-5 record. Their last win at the Marriott Center was during the 2014-15 season when Gonzaga beat BYU 73-66 on Feb. 28.
