Cougar women host San Francisco and Santa Clara Thursday and Saturday
PROVO, Utah— Riding a three-game win streak, BYU women’s basketball (10-7, 5-2) is back home in West Coast Conference action.
The Cougars host San Francisco, Thursday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. MDT, in the popular Kids Game. On Saturday, Jan. 25, Santa Clara comes to Provo for a 2 p.m. MDT matchup with BYU. Both games can be seen live on BYUtv and on the BYUtv App.

ABOUT BYU
- The team is nationally ranked 4th (106) in blocked shots; 5th (6.2) in blocked shots per game; 6th (33.3) in field goal percentage defense and 30th (56.5) in scoring defense
- Two players are scoring in double figures for the Cougars led by 15 points from junior guard Paisley Johnson; she ranks 30th nationally (42.7) in 3-point field goal percentage and 43rd (84.6) in free-throw percentage; senior guard Brenna Chase Drollinger follows contributing 11.8 points per contest; Drollinger currently ranks 25th all-time in career points with 1,150; she leads in assists and steals with 4.4 and 2.1 averages, respectively; nationally, ranks 37th (36.1) in minutes played
- Sara Hamson leads the way in rebounds and blocks, pulling down 8.1 boards a game and getting 4.4 blocks a contest; ranks 2nd (74) in the nation in blocked shots and 2nd (4.4) in blocked shots per game
- After 16 games played, BYU is averaging 61.3 points and pulls down 41.3 rebounds a contest
- The Cougars are holding opponents to just 56.6 points and are allowing only 37.1 rebounds a game
- In the overall series with San Francisco, BYU is 19-5; when playing in Provo, USF is 3-7; in last year’s WCC race, the Cougars swept the series with the Dons
- Against Santa Clara, BYU leads the series with a 17-2 record; Santa Clara has never won a game in Provo

- Entering the fifth week of WCC play, San Francisco has compiled a 7-12, 0-7 record
- The Dons have three players scoring in double figures, led by Ioanna Krimili’s 15.6 points a contest; she’s followed by Lucie Hoskova who is tallying 15.3 points a game; Mikayla Williams rounds out the scoring threat contributing 14.3 points a game
- Leilah Vigil leads the way in rebounds, pulling down 10 boards a game; Hoskova leads in assists and blocks with 2.6 and 1.2 averages, respectively; Abby Rathbun tops the list in steals with a 1.7 average
- The Dons are averaging 68 points and pull down 40.5 rebounds a contest
- USF was picked to finish in ninth place in this year’s conference race
- Head coach Molly Goodenbour is in her fourth season at the helm of the women’s basketball program at San Francisco where she has compiled a 48-64 record
ABOUT SANTA CLARA
- Santa Clara has an 8-10, 2-5 record on the year recording league wins over Pacific and San Francisco; the Broncos are at San Diego on Thursday night before heading to Provo for Saturday’s game with BYU
- Tia Hay leads SCU in scoring with a team-best 12.8 points a game; teammate Ashlyn Herlihy is also putting up double figures in points with a 10.4 average; Herlihy leads the way in rebounding with a 7.5 average with Hay averaging a team-high 3.9 average in assists
- Santa Clara is averaging 72.3 points and 39.9 rebounds a game
- The Broncos were picked to finish in fifth place in this year’s WCC race; Hay was one of 10 players named to the 2019-20 Preseason All-WCC Team
- Head coach Bill Carr is in his fourth season with Santa Clara where he has compiled a 45-64 record
