Fans Get Chance To Meet Hoops Teams

Provo, UT -- BYU fans will have an opportunity to meet this year's men's and women's basketball team, this Saturday at University Mall.

Both teams will be at the University Mall in Orem from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Fans are encouraged to come meet, converse, and take pictures with the players. Posters and schedule cards will also be available as well as ticket information.

"We're excited for the opportunity to take the teams to the fans. This event provides an opportunity for the fans to get to know our outstanding student-athletes and coaches in a relaxed, informal environment," said Tony Jewkes, BYU Athletic Marketing Director. "We anticipate an exciting and fun basketball season from both of these programs."

This is the first time this season the public will have the opportunity to interact with the basketball teams. Several prizes will also be given away during the two-hour event.

The Cougar women's team was recently picked to win the MWC regular season crown and is coming off a "Sweet Sixteen" finish in last year's NCAA tournament.

BYU's men's team has the most depth and talented of any team under coach Steve Cleveland. The team also owns the nation's longest home winning streak at 36 straight wins. Their first home game of the season is on Sat. Nov. 30 against Rice.

The women play two exhibition games at home on Nov. 7 against Team Concepts, Inc. and Westminister College on Nov. 19 prior to hosting the University of Texas on Fri., Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.
