Next Road Games Take Women To Hawaii
With a 4-1 record and two consecutive wins, BYU?s women?s basketball team is off to sunny and warm Hawaii to participate in the 2004 Waikiki Beach Marriott Invitational, Dec. 9-11. The Cougars will meet first time opponent Southeast Missouri State on Fri., Dec. 10 in a 7 p.m. tip off. On Saturday, BYU plays host Hawaii in a 4 p.m. start. All games will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Previous Game Recap
Ambrosia Anderson sparked the Cougars scoring 16 points in the second half to lead BYU to a thrilling 76-70 victory over the Colonials of George Washington University, Monday.
BYU struggled in the first half and the Colonials finished the period with a 10-2 run to go in at the break up 28-22.
After a sloppy first half that included 14 turnovers, BYU was able to make adjustments and bounce back going on a 18-5 run to start the second half.
In the first 20 minutes of play, the Cougars shot 38 percent from the field with no trips to the free throw line. In the second half however, BYU came out more aggressive, going after loose balls and rebounds while shooting almost 61 percent from the field and going 14-16 from the line. It looked as though the Cougars would take control of the game. However, the Colonials played tough forcing additional turnovers and hitting big shots to keep the score close.
The Cougars maintained a well-rounded scoring effort with Kristen Kozlowski putting up 14 points, Danielle Cheesman with 14, Julie Sullivan adding 13, and Mallary Gillespie contributing 11.

The Otahkians come to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Invitational with a 4-1 record that includes wins over Lyon College, TXSO, UIC and Southern Illinois. Their lone loss was at Oklahoma, their first game of the year.
Southeast Missouri State is part of the Ohio Valley Conference and are playing in their second tournament to date. SEMO has three players scoring in double figures, led by 6-2 junior center Tatiana Conceicao who averages 21.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Natalie Purcell follows with 14.2 points and grabs 5.4 boards a game. Rounding out the double digit scoring is Brandi Russia, a 5-7 junior guard who tallies 11.4 points and 3.6 rebounds. The leading rebounder on the team is Chandra Brown is a 6-3 senior center. She grabs 7.8 rebounds per game. As a team, SEMO is shooting 45 percent from the field and 69 percent from the free throw line, and they shoot 40 percent from three point range.

The Rainbow Wahine are hosting this year?s Waikiki Beach Marriott Invitational. To date, they have compiled a 1-2 record with a win against California and loses to Santa Clara and Utah in the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahinie Classic which they hosted. Toping the scoring list for Hawaii is Jade Abele, a 6-1 senior forward, who picks up 17.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Alofa Toiaivao is a 6-3 forward/center sophomore , she contributes to the team effort with 11.0 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds. After three games, the team is shooting 41 percent from the field, 65 percent from the field and 48 percent from three point range. They score 61 points to opponents 65 points per game.

Last Meeting: These two teams last meeting was during the 2000-01 season when BYU and Hawaii met in the second round of the WNIT in Honolulu. The Rainbow Wahine picked up the 77-73 win to end the Cougars run in the WNIT that season.
Head Coach - Jeff Judkins
Overall Record: 62-36, begins his fourth season at BYU.
Under Coach Judkins, the team has gone to back-to-back NCAA appearances as well as to the title games of the MWC Championships, winning the title game in 2001-02.
An all-state selection in basketball, football and baseball, Judkins played basketball for the University of Utah Utah from 1974-78. While playing for the Utes, he helped the team win one conference championship and two berths in the NCAA Tournament.
He was a second-team academic All-American and three-time first-team District VII academic selection. Judkins earned three first-team All-WAC honors and was a member of the 1977 United States World Games team that captured the gold medal.
He played five years in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Portland Trailblazers, Detroit Pistons and the Utah Jazz. He was a second-round pick by the Celtics in 1978, the same year the Celtics selected Larry Bird with the sixth pick overall.
After his NBA career, he returned to the U of U in 1989, and remained with the men?s program for 10 years. Judkins, a Salt Lake City native, graduated from Utah in 1978 with a degree in health and physical education. He is a member of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame and the Crimson Club Hall of Fame.
He and his wife Mary Kay, are the parents of five children: Jessica (24), Jordan (22), Jenna (20), Jaime (17), Jaxson (14).

Team's Practice Schedule/Media Interviews
The BYU team practices at the Marriott Center from 11 a.m., to 2 p.m., on Monday?s, Wednesday?s and Friday?s. On Tuesday?s , practice time is from 1 to 3 p.m., and from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., on Thursdays.
Media interviews with coach Judkins and players can be done prior to or at the end of practice.
