One Game At TCU, One At Home Against UNLV
After the victory over Utah on Sat., the BYU women’s basketball team improved its league record to 5-2 and is tied in first place with TCU and SDSU.
This Wed., Feb. 3, the Cougars (14-5, 5-2) are at No. 21 TCU (15-5, 5-2) in a 6:30 p.m. tip. On Sat., Feb. 6, BYU begins the second half of MWC play hosting UNLV (9-12, 2-5) at 2 p.m.

Team Starts MWC Race Strong
With a 5-2 record in league play, the Cougar women are off to their best start since the 2006-07 campaign when they began conference play with a 7-1 record, eventually winning the regular season crown with a 12-4 finish. That year they went on to play in the title game of the conference tournament before losing to New Mexico. The team went on to play a first round game in the NCAA Tournament.
Player Injury Report
Freshman guard Kim Parker suffered a season ending injury in the game at Weber State. She has torn ligaments in her left foot.
Sophomore guard Jenteal Jackson will apply for a medical redshirt for this year due to an on-going back problem.

Stephanie Vermunt, a 6-0 freshman guard/forward from Airdrie, Alberta, Canada will redshirt the 2009-10 season.

No. 20 TCU is tied with BYU and SDSU for first place in this week’s MWC standings with a 5-2, 15-5 record. The team’s two league losses were on the road at Wyoming and at New Mexico. At home they have a perfect 10-0 record and are also 3-0 in conference play. A Look Back at the Series during the 2009 MWC Race
TCU and BYU split the series last year in MWC action with the Cougars picking a win in Ft. Worth, and the Horned Frogs getting a victory in Provo. Huge 3-point shooting from the Cougars couldn’t quite keep them on top as BYU fell to the Horned Frogs in the Marriott Center. Freshman Stephanie Buhler led BYU with a career-high nine points, all three-point shot attempts. Sophomore point guard Jazmine Foreman brought down nine rebounds to lead the Cougars.
