Rounding out the week in league competition, the Cougar women’s basketball team (11-7, 3-1) returns to the Marriott Center for a Sat. Jan. 22 afternoon matchup with CSU (9-8, 2-2). Game time is set for 3 p.m.

COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY
CSU is in fifth place in the latest MWC standings with a 9-8, 2-2 record. They beat UNLV 68-63 on Tues. Jan. 18. Head coach Kristen Holt is in her third year at the helm of the Rams women’s basketball program. On this year’s squad are four returning starters along with eight letterwinners. After four MWC games, CSU has two players scoring in double figures led by 13.3 points from junior guard/forward combo Kim Mestdagh. She also grabs 5.0 rebounds per contest. Sam Martin follows with 11.0 points and tops the list rebound category with 5.3 boards per contest.

These two MWC foes played twice during last year’s conference race with the Cougars sweeping the series. In the first meeting, BYU won 67-58 in Ft. Collins on Jan. 16. In their second matchup in Provo, the Cougars picked up a 72-54 victory on Feb. 17.
WHAT’S NEXT
After the home game with CSU on Jan. 22, the Cougars travel to San Diego to battle the Aztecs on Jan. 26 before hosting the University of New Mexico on Jan. 29.
